Mission: Our Credit Valley school community is committed to
developing passionate learners who are motivated to achieve personal
success.

"Citius,
Altius, Fortius"
"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most
important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle." Author unknown.
What a wonderful message to send to our Children of Credit
Valley, that winning is not as important as the struggle, perseverance
demonstrated and the lessons learned along the way. I look forward to celebrating the
Olympics with all the students in a school wide Literacy/Olympic program to
be launched at the school.
I would like to thank all the teachers, parents and most
of all the students for participating in the Forest of Reading
program this January. The
presentations put on by the staff really seemed to spark the interest of the
children and launched one of our most successful campaigns. What a wonderful way to start the new
year! I would like to thank Mrs.
Cavanagh for spear heading this endeavour and for doing such a fantastic job.
Speaking of reading, I'm very excited about the
Independent Reading Program that was initiated this year and the support from
Parent Council. We have been able
to purchase several hundred leveled books to incorporate into our classroom
libraries that will help facilitate greater reading comprehension with
fiction and non-fiction text.
Students are very excited with our new purchases and are voraciously
trying to read every time they have a chance. Please take an opportunity to ask your
child about their involvement with the program. Thank you to all the teachers and volunteers
who took numerous hours to collate and level all these wonderful resources.
February is certainly a time of celebrations and
reflections. Celebrating our
culture obviously takes many forms and should not wait for a specific time,
date or month. However, it is
always nice to indulge in some much needed reflection with respect to who we
are. As a school, we must allow
for cultural elements to drift into the classroom in order to allow students
to recognize that we live in a diverse society. This month Credit Valley
will celebrate: Valentines Day, Black History Month, Chinese New Year and Family
Day. We are looking
forward to celebrating these events with all our students and learning along
with them the importance and significance of these events to our
community. Let's continue to
build those cultural bridges!
Sincerely,
P. da Silva

Important information
about immunization
In order to attend school
in Ontario,
your child must have an up-to-date immunization record. When you register
your child for school, you will provide copy of your child's immunization
record and the school will send it to Peel Health. After registration,
keeping your child's records up to date is your responsibility. Peel Health
reviews immunization records regularly. Students who are not completely immunized
and do not have a valid exemption may not be allowed to attend school. For information about immunization, or
to get a copy of your child's record call Health Line Peel at 905-799-7700.
